American Filament PCTG is very similar to PETG with several distinct advantages. You could even call it a PETG+! Our PCTG is made with a PET-based copolyester specifically designed for professional grade 3D printing applications where easy processing and high toughness are critical.
This particular yellow was matched to the ANSI standard color for high-visibility safety apparel (HVSA). If you're thinking of a bright yellow construction safety vest then you are right on the money!
Our PCTG is made with a PET-based copolyester specifically designed for professional grade 3D printing applications where easy processing and high toughness are critical.
This material features a unique self-bonding ability providing very high layer-to-layer adhesion; possesses a high melt strength ensuring an even flow during the 3D printing process; is more chemically resistant & stable than PETG, ABS, or ASA (making it suitable for a wide variety of applications); boasts unmatched impact strength & toughness; has lower moisture absorption than PETG (making it more shelf stable); and can be printed reliably without an enclosure.
Unlike PETG, the finish of PCTG can vary between matte and glossy depending upon the temperature and speed settings you choose. Try 240-245°C to get that matte finish!
Key Features:
- Unmatched Strength & Toughness: Higher compressive, tensile, and impact strength than many other PETGs.
- High-Temp: Glass Transition Temperature of 85°C.
- Professional-Grade Performance
- Low Odor
- Does NOT Require Drying Before Use
- Effortless Printing: Even flow rate & wide range of nozzle temperatures.
- Made in the USA: Manufactured with American quality you can trust.

Print Settings
- Nozzle Temperature: 240 - 270°C
- Bed Temperature: 70 - 100°C
- Speed: 60 - 300 mm/s
Nozzle temperature can vary between 240-270°C depending on desired layer to layer adhesion vs part print quality. Higher nozzle temperatures will result in stronger parts, but may cause lower quality and/or increased stringing.
Part cooling can also vary depending on desired layer to layer adhesion vs part print quality. More cooling will result in better overhangs & bridging, but will decrease the ultimate layer to layer adhesion.
For Bambu Printers: We recommend using the Bambu Labs Gold Textured PEI build plate, or other aftermarket textured PEI build plates, for this material. 70°C should be sufficient for adequate build plate adhesion, going higher than this temperature may cause parts to adhere to the plate too well.
For Bambu Printers: recommended retraction length can vary between 0.8-1.2mm depending on the amount of stringing you experience. For other printers: the default retraction settings for PETG should be sufficient, but total retraction length may need to be increased slightly.
For Bambu Printers: It is recommended to lower your Top Surface print speed to 100-150 mm/s for higher top layer quality.

This was my first roll of PCTG. It took a bit of set up but im fairly new to 3d printing so im sure some one more familiar with set up wouldn't have near the time invested. After i got it dialed in though this stuff has been amazing. It prints well, it holds up the the abuse on my RC dirt car and it has a nice shine to it. I run my plate at 60C and my nozzle at 260-265 with a travel speed of 40 mm/s. So far so good.
1st run with PCTG.
Impressive!
I put this on myrack a couple of weeks back and forgot about it while using up other material, you know how it goes. Up popped a project, wasn't really a yellow project, and I thought " can't learn it if you don't try it", box got opened and into service it went.
Didn't dry it (I KNOW, I KNOW! cut me slack, I didn't plan ahead), just dropped it in and went. Generic profile but bumped bed temp to 80, 230 nozzle, added a brim and hit go. Zero issues and the yellow! WOW! You can definitely see this in low light.
No issues
Arrived on time, package well sealed and reasonably dry. Prints so much better than PETG - great for functional prints.
I first clogged 3 heatbreaks before I found the correct parameters for my printer. But now the prints are just perfect. That material does (almost) not warp. The color is amazing.
This filament prints very well. I highly recommend American filament to anybody.
